Lost One Couple Ring? How to Replace Just One

Black tungsten couple ring with a red crushed-stone inlay paired with an ornate silver ring set featuring a deep red pear-shaped gemstone, illustrating how to replace one lost couple ring.

The ring you still have makes the missing one feel even more noticeable.

Maybe it slipped off on a trip. Maybe you took it off for work and can't remember where you put it. Or maybe you've searched every pocket and drawer twice, hoping it would turn up somewhere obvious.

Once the search slows down, one question takes over: do we have to buy a whole new pair?

Usually, no. With our couple rings, the men's and women's rings can be ordered separately from the product page, so you can replace just the one that's missing. If the original design has been discontinued, we can suggest a similar style or talk through a custom option.

This guide covers the replacement itself: what to gather, how to order a single ring, what to do when the original is gone, and how to keep the new ring feeling like part of your pair. If you're still searching, check the usual places first and come back when you're ready to order.

The Short Answer

You don't have to decide everything today. Start with the simplest option, which is finding the original design, and move on only if you need to.

  1. Gather the Details of the Missing Ring

An old order confirmation is a better starting point than searching for something that "looks about right." It tells you the exact variant you bought, which is hard to remember later.

Look for:

  • Your order number and the email address used to order
  • The product name or link
  • The ring's size, metal or material, color, and width
  • Any stone details
  • The engraving, exactly as written (including punctuation and capital letters)

If the set was a gift, ask the person who bought it to check their inbox. If you can't find the order, a few photos can still help us identify the design.

Photos that help most:

  • Both rings together, if you have an older picture
  • A top view and a side view of the ring you still have
  • A close-up of any texture or detail
  • The inside of the ring, where the engraving is

Mark anything you're unsure about instead of guessing. "I think it was 6mm" is more useful than a confident wrong number.

  1. Order the Missing Ring on Its Own

If the original design is still listed, you can replace the missing ring directly from its product page. Each ring in a couple set can be ordered separately, so you only pay for the one you need.

Before you check out:

  1. Pick the right ring. Make sure you're ordering the men's or women's ring that's missing, not the one you still have. Compare the product name and the option labels with your order confirmation.
  2. Match the variant. Choose the same metal, color, width, and any stone option as the original. Check these one by one.
  3. Re-confirm the size. See Section 4 before you copy the old size.
  4. Add the engraving. Section 5 covers repeating or changing it.
  5. Check the cart. Confirm you've got one ring in the order, not a full pair, and that the total looks right.

Small differences in finish or tone can sometimes show up between separate orders. If an exact visual match matters to you, send us a photo of your remaining ring before you order, and we'll tell you what to expect.

A replacement is a new order, so don't assume it follows the original purchase's price or timing. Look at the production and shipping estimate on the product page, and ask us if you need the ring by a specific date.

  1. If the Original Design Is Discontinued

Designs do get retired. When yours has, you've still got three good options.

Option A: Ask us for a similar design. Email us at service@esdomera.com with your order details and photos. Tell us which features matter most (the color, the width, the stone, the finish), and we'll suggest the closest styles we currently offer. Keep in mind that "similar" isn't "identical," so ask us to point out any visible differences before you order.

Option B: Ask about a custom option. If you'd like the closest possible look, tell us what you want to keep and what can change through Design Your Own. Customized orders can be more limited once production starts, so settle the details first.

Option C: Choose a new pair. If you'd both like a fresh start, browse couple rings together. You can keep the ring you have as a keepsake, or keep wearing it.

Decide What Makes It "Yours"

If an exact match isn't possible, ask yourselves:

"What made the original pair feel like ours?"

Maybe it was the color, a shared texture, the date inside, or simply the day you chose them together. Use the answer to decide what's essential and what's flexible:

Click the image to view the sheet.

Writing it down as "essential, preferred, flexible" gives us a clear brief to work from:

Essential: the original engraving. Preferred: a dark exterior. Flexible: width and texture.

If the replacement will look noticeably different from the ring you kept, that's fine. Two rings that differ but share one detail can feel more like a pair than two rings that match and mean nothing. For ideas on linking different designs, see how to choose couple rings when you have different styles.

  1. Re-Check the Size Before Repeating It

The old order tells you what you bought, not necessarily what you should order now.

Ask yourself:

  • Was the missing ring ever loose? A ring that slipped off might simply have been a little too big.
  • Has your finger size changed since then, through weather, weight, or a lifestyle change?
  • Is the replacement the same width as the original? Bands 6mm and wider usually need half a size up.

If fit played a part in the loss, don't repeat the old size without measuring again. Follow our ring size guide for couple ring sets, or get measured at a local jeweler. For precious metals, if you're between sizes, go half a size up.

Tungsten rings can't be resized, so if your replacement is tungsten, the size you order is the size you'll wear. Get it right before you pay.

  1. Repeat the Engraving or Choose a New One

An inscription is one of the easiest ways to tie a replacement ring to the original.

You could repeat:

  • The original date, for example, 12 Jun 2026
  • Initials or a nickname
  • A short phrase
  • Half of a shared message

Or you could choose something new together. You don't need to add the date of the loss. The new ring can carry the original story forward without recording what happened along the way.

Send the exact wording, including capital letters and punctuation. Confirm that the style you've chosen supports it. For ideas, see what to engrave on a couple ring.

  1. Check the Order Before You Pay

Engraved and customized orders have stricter conditions. Our orders go into production within 24 hours of payment, and cancellation is limited after that point, so go through this list first:

  1. A Message You Can Send Us

If you can't find the original design or aren't sure which option you need, copy this and fill in what you know:

Hello,

I bought a couple ring set from Esdomera, and I'm looking to replace one ring that was lost.

Order number: Email used for the order: Approximate purchase date: Product name or link:

Ring I need to replace (men's or women's): Size: Material, color, and width: Engraving:

I've attached photos of the ring I still have.

Could you let me know:

1. Whether the original design is still available.

2. If not, which similar designs you'd recommend.

3. Whether the engraving can be repeated.

4. Production and shipping time for this order.

Thank you.

Send it to service@esdomera.com, and keep our reply with your order records, especially if we agree on an alternative design or a custom request.

  1. Keep the Next One From Going Missing

You don't need a long list of rules. Two habits cover most losses:

  • Give the ring one place to live when it's off. A small dish by the sink or a pocket in your bag works better than "somewhere safe."
  • Take it off before water and heavy hands. Cold water, swimming, gym sessions, and gardening are where most rings slip away.

If it came off because it was loose, fix the fit instead of hoping for the best. And if your job means you take it off often, wearing it on a chain during the day is a practical option.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy just one ring from a couple set?

Yes. The men's and women's rings in our couple sets can be ordered separately from the product page, so you can replace only the ring that's missing.

What if the original design is no longer available?

Email us your order details and photos. We can suggest a similar design, or discuss a custom option through Design Your Own.

Will the replacement match my other ring exactly?

If the original design is still available, choosing the same variant gives you the closest result. Small differences in finish or tone can happen between separate orders, so send us a photo of your remaining ring if an exact match matters to you.

Can I repeat the original engraving?

Usually yes, as long as the style you've chosen supports it. Give us the exact wording, and we'll confirm.

I don't have my order number. What should I do?

Send us the email address you used, the approximate purchase date, and any photos of the rings. We'll help identify the design.

Does the warranty cover a lost ring?

A lost ring isn't the same as a defective one, so don't assume it's covered. Check our Warranty & Return Policy, and review any separate insurance you have.

What if I find the original after ordering a replacement?

Contact us right away. Whether the order can still be changed or cancelled depends on how far it has progressed, and customized orders are more limited.

Should we replace both rings?

Only if you both want to. Keeping the original and replacing the missing one is a meaningful choice, and so is picking a new pair together.

The Ring Is Gone. The Meaning Isn't.

A lost ring hurts because of what it stands for: a promise, a milestone, a day you remember clearly. A replacement doesn't erase that. It gives you a way to carry it forward.

Start with your original order, and check whether the design is still available. If it is, order the missing ring on its own. If it isn't, email us, and we'll find the closest option together.
